Record Number of Nominations for the 2016 Millennium Technology Prize
Awarded by the Technology Academy Finland (TAF), the Millennium Technology Prize is attracting ever greater attention worldwide. By the end of the 2015 nomination period, a total of 79 innovations were submitted as candidates for the one million euro prize, which will be awarded in May 2016. The number of submissions doubled from the last round (40 nominations in 2013), and the nominations encompassed 114 persons (45 in 2013), an all-time record. This round also included considerably more research teams per innovation than before. The Finnish scientific community was exceptionally active in submitting nominations. The largest number of candidates came from Europe and the United States.Read more ›

Physicist Stuart Parkin wins 2014 Millennium Technology Prize for opening big data era
Technology Academy Finland (TAF) has today declared innovator Prof. Stuart Parkin as winner of the 2014 Millennium Technology Prize, the prominent award for technological innovation. The winner, who follows in the footsteps of past winners such as World Wide Web creator Sir Tim Berners-Lee and ethical stem cell pioneer Dr. Shinya Yamanaka, will be honoured at a ceremony in Helsinki, Finland, on Wednesday 7 May 2014.The prize is worth one million euros.Read more ›
